The Flatirons Mineral club is having a trip to Mt. Antero to collect Beryl – with North Jeffco Club. The kids (Jr. Geologists) will be coming as well, and I expect to have some great stories from this one! It will be over the long Labor day weekend, and anytime you are rock hounding above 14,000 ft, expect good stories!
Last year, Emmett, Noah and I climbed Mt Antero (the youngest I know about was Emmett – 6years old then). The daytime was short so we only found some smokey quartz. There was also still a lot of snow at that point (mid-June) so hopefully this year we will have better luck.
Stay tuned for pictures from this years adventure, and some of the treasures we are sure to fine!
To whet your appatite, here is a picture from last years summit of Mt. Antero – ain’t it beautiful!
