Off-Road International Trailer – Axle

When I first uncrated everything, it looked like the axle was bent:

But though I sent this email to Marty Jackson at Off-Road International, I got no response (of course, what was I thinking, I already paid them…).

“Marty,

I got the trailer and have a few questions about it.
1. The axel square steel tubing is bent near the center. Is this how the axel is supposed to be?
2. The manual and your web page references tie down eyelets. However none where in the trailer, can you ship these to me?
3. Coating — can you refund a portion of my payment to cover re-coating the following areas (let me know if you need pictures of the damage).
a. The paint was still wet when I received the trailer, because of this, there are a lot of areas where the coating is damaged.
b. The axle abraded 2 large areas during shipment from the inside bottom ofthe trailer.
4. The manual does not cover attaching the axle to the trailer. It seems like
there are two possible ways to attach it to the trailer — label forward or
label facing the rear.
So far in general, the trailer seems well designed, however I was very disappointed with the coating. I would also like to say that the crating job was very well done as well. Everything seemed to come through with no external damage – the only caveat being the axle was not attached and packed well enough to keep if from rubbing.Sincerely,
Frederick Barton”

I figured out the source for the axle and here is a link to the specification page which answers the questions about the axle.  YES it is supposed to be bent (its the camber built into the axle).  Also, the torsion arms are supposed to be trailing, so they face rearwards.  The manufacturer is Reliable Tool.

Here is a pic of the axle assembly as shipped from Off-Road International (AKA Racefab).
