Well, after years of rolling my own (rack of servers in my basement), I decided to take the plunge and try a hosting company. I was initially looking for low price, and then started reviewing all the services available.
I finally settled on Hostmonster.com for $6.95/month (actually on sale now for $5.95) they offered UNLIMITED storage and UNLIMITED bandwidth, in addition to a free domain registration, and a BUNCH of other features, like tons of email accounts, HUGE number of automated installs on such things as CRM, BLOGS, web based chat client — the list is pretty comprehensive.
Not to mention, everytime I call support for help, I get an American on the phone (you don’t get that from Microsoft or many other vendors these days). And since I work for a living, I do most of my calling after hours (they have 24X7 phone service).
So far, I am very happy with my service (I currently have about 150 GB stored on my hosted account), and I happily recommend them to my friends.
