Ulexite, also called ‘TV Stone’ since it passes light clearly in one direction is pretty neat. The collecting area is pretty far off the road, and in an area you would NOT want to be in during a rain. Its also near some Military training areas so you may (as we did) see some folks out on maneuvers. It was also blistering HOT when we were there during the middle of the summer, maybe 120 F. There is supposed to be Onyx there as well, but not real sure if the second sample is Onyx or not…
Some OK Ulexite. We couldn’t find any real nice pieces that were polished on the ends so the light would pass clearly through them. However, we did find a LOT of Agate floating around in the vicinity.
possible Onyx (any suggestions?)
