Well, I searched quite a bit and couldn’t find any way to directly attach my scanner (Epson Perfection 1200 photo) to my Hyper-V virtual machines. I did find some software that functions as a "scanner server" very similar to a print server. Its a client server set of software that operations together to allow the virtual machine to talk across the network to the computer directly attached to the scanner which operates as the server.
The next step (likely should have been the first step), was to get my scanner to work with Server 2008. Hey that’s easy right, well it would be if Epson created drivers for Server 2008 x64…
So, OK, get the Epson Perfection 1200 hacked drivers HERE thanks to Smoove Love who explains what he did at THIS POST.
Then, download and install Blind Scanner Pro (purchase for $30, much cheaper than a new scanner), install on Server 2008 (installs fine, even on X64), then install on the client VM. Point the client to the IP of the server, and scan away!!!
